To Tip or Not to Tip in Costa Rica??

One less thing to worry about while on your Costa Rica vacation! A 10% service charge is included with your restaurant bill, as well as the obligatory 13% sales tax. However, if the service is exceptional or you plan to visit regularly, you may want to leave a little more. 

The parking assistant (the guy with the stick) appreciates anything you give him for helping you back out of your parking space.. most of the times it’s not needed, but he will keep an eye on your car while your not there..(or at least that what he says!)

A few coins.. a couple of hundred colones (.50) is more than sufficient.

Porter and bellhops get aprox. .75 per bag. Costa Rica Taxi drivers are paid their fare. No tipping is required or expected.
