Dress in Costa Rica is informal. It is a good idea to wear lightweight sport clothing; jeans and lots of t-shirts, beach towel & swim wear. A jacket or sweater so these can be removed when the temperature rises. An umbrella, lightweight raincoat or poncho may also come in handy. Comfortable walking shoes, tennis shoes and hiking boots are suggested. Please bring sun block and use it. Drugstores have a good supply of imported goods, but are expensive. Wide brim hats, and sunglasses are highly recommended.
Remember, temperatures vary widely in Costa Rica, from the cool and Sring like Central Valley, to the steamy ropical weather of the coastal areas. Bring a good mix of clothes so that you will be prepared.
If you are planning a trip to Tabacon Resort, which is highly recommended by this traveller, make sure to bring a pair of those cheap rubber booties you see in Wal-Mart... it will save your feet- climbing in and out of the rocky hot springs. They will also be useful and keep your hiking boots from getting wet and muddy, when hiking to the waterfalls in Manuel Antonio or Montezuma during the wet season...
Make sure to bring Insect repellent and a camera of course. If you are still using a film camera ( not digital ) be sure to bring lots of film. film is very epensive here in Costa Rica, as is most imported items.
