If you'll be spending your entire Costa Rica visit in Jaco beach but would like to see some other parts of Costa Rica, you can arrange Costa Rica adventure tours through the local companies. Many offer day tours to Arenal Volcan National Park, Poas Volcanos, and Irazu Volcanoe; white-water rafting trips; cruises to Tortuga Island; and trips to Braulio Carrillo National Park and other Costa Rica destinations and National Parks.
Rates range from $35 to $110 for day trips. Overnight trips are also available.  

Manuel Antonio National Park is only 1 hour from Jacó and worth the drive. (keep in mind the park is close on Mondays)

Other points of interest are the Rainmaker Nature Refuge and the Isla Damas Estuary.
