Restaurants Costa Rica: Montezuma, Nicoya Peninsula: El Sano Banano Village Cafe

Delicious vegetarian meals, including nightly specials, sandwiches, and salads, are the specialty of this ever-popular Montezuma restaurant, although there's also a variety of fish and chicken dishes. Lunches feature hefty sandwiches on whole-wheat bread and filling fish and vegetarian casados for around $5. The yogurt fruit shakes are fabulous, but I like to get a little more decadent and have one of the mocha shakes.

El Sano Banano also doubles as the local movie house. Nightly DVD releases are projected on a large screen; the selection ranges from first-run to quite artsy, and there's a constantly growing library of more than 800 movies. The movies begin at 7:30pm and require a minimum purchase of $5.
