Quepos Domestic Airport, Puntarenas

Named after an indigenous Indian tribe who inhabited the area before it was colonized by the Spanish, Quepos is among Costa Rica’s most frequented smaller townships, located near Manuel Antonio National Park. Just a few minutes away from the gorgeous Manuel Antonio National Park, this town is also famous for its off-the-coast sport fishing, stunning white sand beaches and amazing landscape.

With its quaint colonial architecture and wonderful seafood restaurants, Quepos offers tourists plenty to see and do. To get to here, you can either drive down from San Jose City or you can catch a short 25-minute domestic flight via SANSA or Nature Air out here. The Quepos Domestic Airport is located just 5km outside of town and caters to a number of commercial flights as well as chartered planes. SANSA has six daily flights to Quepos from San Jose, while Nature Air has only four.

Most hotels have a free pick and drop shuttle service for its clientele. However, you can easily catch a taxi from outside the airport at a cost of just US$3-5. For ticket reservations and bookings in Quepos, SANSA has an office on the soccer field, while Nature Air’s office sits above Iguana Tours in town. Do remember to confirm your ticket during high season, as flights can often be booked solid for weeks on end. Also keep in mind that SANSA’s flights depart to Quepos from the Juan Santamaria International Airport, while Nature Air flights leave from the Tobias Bolaños Airport in Pavas just next to
Downtown San Jose
