Puerto Viejo Entertainment and Events

Puerto Viejo is known for its lively bars and discos, with visitors as far as Limón that come to join the party. Where the sounds of reggae are everywhere!

Johnny’s Place, where the action spills onto the beach has live music; Wednesday is Caribbean Night.

Neptuno Disco Bar has live music jams Wednesdays at 9 p.m., 2 x 1 on Caipirinhas and Piña Coladas 9 - 11 p.m.

Café Musical, above Calor Caribe, has live music Thur. to Sun. from 6 p.m., including calypso on Fridays and Jazz on Sundays.

El Dorado, next to Centro Comercial Mane, has a bar, pool table, board games, and movies on a TV.  Every night is “Ladies Night”. Open 8 p.m. - midnight.

The pleasant Bar Maritza in the Hotel Maritza has a TV, plus live calypso on Sunday evenings.

Bob Marley also rules at Kaya’s Place, roadside 200 meters west of town, a cool spot to groove with the Rastas.

Hot Rocks Café, located on the beach front, has 3 nightly movies on a huge outside screen. They serve fun appetizers and Mexican dishes. All are welcomed!

The Annual South Caribbean Music Festival
Runs late February and early March, with performers spanning the spectrum from classical to calypso and reggae.
