America's Most Wanted, Crabtree, Caught In Costa Rica

AMW tipsters told America's Most Wanted where Lonnie Crabtree was living in Costa Rica. It was only a matter of time before law enforcement caught up with him.

It seems that Crabtree has been living the life of luxury in Costa Rica, but he forgot to do one important thing: he didn't renew his travel visa. Now the Costa Rican government is expelling him and U.S. Marshals will be waiting for him when he is extradited next week.


Lonnie Ted Crabtree, age 41 and originally from Michigan, is a U.S. citizen wanted for attempted sexual abuse of a 15-year-old minor in Kentucky in 2002.

The arrest was made on Feb. 15 when Crabtree was traveling by bus from Puntarenas to San Jose, a press release states.

The specific charges against Crabtree, include importuning, attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and attempted compelling prostitution.

Crabtree was living in Puntarenas in the Central Pacific town of Cobano. He has a wife and five children, and he offered English and martial arts classes to minors, authorities said.

According to America's Most Wanted, a detective was posing as a 15-year old named Brooke. Crabtree thought he was soliciting her for $130 per hour for sexual intercourse.

Crabtree then sent ‘Brooke' a picture of himself, and asked if they could meet. Brooke agreed to meet him at a local fast food restaurant, much to his horror, he was greeted by a group of detectives.

Authorities plan to extradite Crabtree to the United States.
