Humanitarian Support to Costa Rica's Talamanca

From December 17 to December 19, a group of 18 doctors from the U.S. Armed Forces will provide humanitarian support to indigenous communities in Piedra Mesa, Talamanca, Costa Rica.

Physicians are prepared to take care of up to 700 people, with general medical attention and basic medicines.

The U.S. doctors come from Soto Cano Military Base, located in Honduras, and will be in Costa Rica thanks to the U.S. Department of Defense, SouthCom and U.S. Embassy support.

U.S. Ambassador, Mark Langdale, several Costa Rican parliamentarians and Costa Rican media will travel to Talamanca to witness part of the support given by physicians to Costa Rican’s indigenous communities.

U.S. helicopters will also support the Costa Rican National Emergencies Committee in bringing food and toys to indigenous children.
