Arenal, Monteverde, Rincon de la Vieja, Liberia & More
While you travel in Costa Rica and you're looking for the active Arenal Volcano National Park, this is where you will want to go! Also, add into the mix the Monteverde Cloud Forest National Park, where you can stay in mountain chalets and lodges. At Rincon de la Vieja National Park you can walk along the bottom of the volcano and see bubbling mud - holes, hot sulphur springs and small geysers.
Hotels vary from cheap cabinas to 5 star resorts and everything in between. The Monteverde and Rincon de la Vieja are more secluded areas of Costa Rica and you will likely eat at your hotel restaurant. There are many more restaurant options in Arenal, with the nearby town of La Fortuna minutes away. Along the strip from La Fortuna to the hot springs are scores of hotels with their own restaurants so check them out. Liberia is a busy town with tons of restaurant and hotel options. In town you can find inexpensive, clean accommodations. Closer to the main road, rates are higher.
