  • Obtain Health Certificate from veterinarian
  • Have Health Certificate certified at the nearest Costa Rican Consulate in the United States
    • List of CR consulates www.costarica-embassy.org (English) or www.rree.go.cr/servicio-exterior/index.php (Spanish)
  • Obtain Import Permit from Vigilancia de la Salud Department, Costa Rican Ministry of Health, telephone:  (506) 255-1427
    • Office Hours Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    • Address:  Street 16, Avenues 6 & 8, San Jose, Costa Rica

Veterinary officer from Quarantine Department of the Costa Rican Ministry of Agriculture will review/seal the documents at the port of entry, and visually inspect the pet.
