Limón Province is located in the Caribbean region of Costa Rica and encompases the Caribbean shoreline (132 Miles of coast), north to Nicaragua (92 miles from the City of Limón), south to the Talamanca Mountain range which merges with the coast, and as far inland as the Braulio Carrillo National Park. Limón covers an area of approx 9,188 square kilometers and has a population of about 170,000.
Limón Province consists of thick tropical jungles, coconut trees, ornamental plants, beaches, banana plantations, and small towns and villages. You'll find towns such as Cahuita that host yearly events and festivals, home ot the beautiful Cahuita National Park; the fun and active town of Puerto Viejo, famous for it's great surfing Salsa Brava; further south are the peaceful towns of Manzanillo and Chiquita. A top spot for scientific and ecological tourism. There are many beautiful swimming and surfing beaches along the Caribbean side of Costa Rica.
