Tortuguero National Park -Costa Rica: The Place of the Turtles
Tortuguero is the largest green turtle nesting site in the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica. The Caribbean Conservation Corps (CCC), a turtle research center founded by Dr Carr in 1959, has been documenting the number of turtles nesting in Tortuguero for the last 40 years.

Tortuguero National Park Getting There
Tortuguero National Park is accessible only by boat or plane. The 30-minute flight from San José can be arranged with any of the private charter companies, or on the regularly scheduled TravelAir service.

Location: It is located in the Atlantic seaboard of Limón province, 84 Km. Northeast of the city of Limón. Importance: The Green turtle's most important spawning area in the whole West Caribbean. Among the vegetation, the "yolillo" palm and the "kativo" tree are the most common and can often be seen by the side of both the natural and the artificial canals.
