Transportation Options to and from Montezuma, Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica

1. Speed boat from Central Pacific coast.
San Jose to Herradura beach, next to Jaco beach (by land 1.5 hours in a private shuttle with your personal guide/driver) and from Herradura to Montezuma by private speed boat (1 hour approx.) the rate for these two services all together is: aprox US$380, max. 5 people.

2. Land Transportation to Montezuma
San Jose - Puntarenas - Paquera Ferry - Paquera - Montezuma. This is a 6 hours journey. It will be in private shuttle with your personal driver and guide for you and you will be with one of our staff members all the time. aprox US$260, max. 5 people.

3. Regular Shuttle Transportation
San Jose - Puntarenas - Paquera Ferry - Paquera - Montezuma. This is a shuttle that leaves from San Jose at 8:00 am everyday and comes all the way down to Montezuma. In the shuttle will be more passengers. (This is not a private service). You will get to Montezuma around 1.00 pm and the cost is $45 per person.

4. Public Transportation to Montezuma
This is best for ones on a strict budget. The trip may be uncomfortable, hot, but very inexpensive. Take any bus to Puntarenas, then take a taxi to the ferry deck, buy tickets for the Paquera ferry, as soon as you get to Paquera a public bus will be waiting for you and will bring you all the way to Montezuma. The last ferry that meets up with the public bus is at 2.30 pm from Puntarenas, if you take the following ferry, 4.30 pm, you will have to pay a taxi all the way from Paquera to Montezuma. A total journey of 8-10 hours.

***You can also consider de possibility of renting a car; you can pick it up at the airport and drive all the way down to Montezuma. Or rent it for some days after you arrive to Montezuma.
