This comfortable Costa Rica lodge is located 2km (1 1/4 miles) north of Tortuguero Village, on the ocean side of the main canal (which allows you to walk along the beach and into town at your leisure). All rooms are spacious and attractive. Most have wood walls, waxed hardwood floors, and tiled bathrooms with screened upper walls to let in air and light. Each room also has a little shared veranda overlooking flowering gardens.

The large dining room, where basic buffet-style meals are served, is on a free-form deck that extends out over the Tortuguero Canal. Another covered deck, also over the water, is strung with hammocks for lazing away the afternoons. Several covered palapa huts also strung with hammocks have been built among the flowering ginger and hibiscus. There's a large and refreshing pool, with a poolside bar and grill, as well as a butterfly garden and botanical garden. All the standard Tortuguero tours are available.
