Things to do in Quepos, Costa Rica

Surfing Safari Tours
Costa Rica boasts an incredibly rich diversity of flora and fauna. With over 850 species of birds, 200 mammal species, and thousands of plant varieties, these tropical rainforests are a nature lover's Mecca.

The Manuel Antonio/Quepos area, especially the 683 hectares Costa Rica National Park, is ideal for viewing this biodiversity set against a backdrop of dramatic rocky headlands and dense primary rainforest - a true testament to this Central Pacific area's rich ecological diversity. Its secluded beaches, breathtaking views and spectacular rocky headlands make it one of the most alluring parks in Costa Rica. Hiking, bird watching, swimming and snorkeling are all popular pursuits in Manuel Antonio National Park.

Other activities in the Quepos area include white-water rafting, sea kayaking, SCUBA diving, mountain biking and waterfall tours, to name a few. Quepos is also a sport fishing paradise that boasts an abundance of sailfish, marlin, yellow fin tuna, dorado, wahoo, and amberjack.

Wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy boat tours of Isla Damas, a mangrove swamp just north of Quepos. Experienced guides offer opportunities to view the rare American crocodile and numerous snakes, including boa constrictors. Shell collecting is also a popular pastime on Isla Damas.

All of the following activities are available from Quepos Manuel Antonio:

Sportfishing
Quepos is world famous for offshore billfishing with many record sailfish, marlin, and tuna. Enjoy a full day or half day fishing inshore or offshore in quality boats with excellent captains and mates. Rates vary $350.00 to $1200.00 per boat.

Horseback Riding
Explore isolated jungles, rivers, waterfalls and see the hot springs on its natural forms. Full day and half day tours of the nearby mountains includes experienced guide, snacks, drinks, transportation, and healthy strong horses.

Canopy Safari
The Ultimate Costa Rica Eco-Adventure tour designed to immerse you in a world of adventure and discovery. The tour's "safety first" guides conduct Canopy Tours which cater to the free spirit in all of us. These tours treat you to an astounding view of the pristine primary rainforest. After gliding from platform to platform secured by cables, you will take a nature hike down to the bottom of the waterfall where you can take a cool swim in a huge pool of fresh water.

White Water Rafting
A full day of fun! Great scenery and bird-watching. Challenge one of Costa Rica's pristine rivers with experienced guides.

Manuel Antonio National Park Guided Tour
Explore Manuel Antonio National Park on your own or with a knowledgeable guide. Using a guide is recommended and can help expand your experience as you search for sloths, monkeys, and exotic birds. The guide will explain the history of this Costa Rica National Park, as well as point out its more reclusive Costa Rica flora and fauna.

Sea Kayaking
The Pacific coastline of Manuel Antonio provides some of Costa Rica's most commanding scenery and a sea kayak is the perfect vantage point to explore its untouched beauty. Take it all in at your own pace as naturalist guides introduce you to the local wildlife and surrounding environment. Play in the ocean and waves on our Manuel Antonio tour or stay within the calm water inlets of Damas Island.

Dolphin Watch Coastal Tour
Cruise the spectacular coastline from Quepos to the Manuel Antonio National Park in search of dolphins, whales, sea turtles, and unique birdlife including bobbies and frigatebirds which nest on islands believed to be ancient Indian burial sites. Guides will explain the history of the Quepos indigenous community and the geology of the area, highlighting dramatic features such as blow holes beneath towering cliffs and the formation of the national park.

Damas Island Boat Tour
Sit back and relax on this informative tour as our guides explain the mangrove ecosystem and point out wildlife such as sloths, crocodiles, boas, white-faced monkeys, and egrets.

Junglecoast Jet Ski Safaris
For a change in pace, join us for an adrenaline pumping snapshot of Manuel Antonio National Park aboard a waverunner jet ski. Jump waves, spot dolphins, and hang on. Jet Ski Tours run all day.
