Tamarindo Beach is in the north of the Nicoya Peninsula on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, in the province of Guanacaste.

This Costa Rica travel destination is perfect for visitors who want to enjoy a relaxed and visually enticing environment that is warmer and less strenuous that the cooler degrees and dizzying heights of the canopy of the Monteverde Cloud Forest.

Tamarindo is in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica, an area that includes much of the northwestern part of this country. A number of different beach fronts are situated along both the north and south of Tamarindo Beach. Just south of Tamarindo is another one of Costa Rica's National Parks. Dolphins, manta rays, and the nearby coral reef make this a great spot for snorkeling and enjoy Costa Rica scuba diving.

Although hours away, the Pacific coast of Costa Rica has different weather conditions than the Atlantic coast, also know as the Caribbean coast. Hurricanes in the east mean more rain on this side of the country. During the dry season (late Dec - May) the weather is generally clear and highs usually range from 80 to 100 degrees. This perfect weather creates an ideal setting for other water activities such as sports fishing. Quite the popular activity in this part of Costa Rica. It's warm enough that visitors enjoy surfing the waves of the area.

Tamarindo Beach Costa Rica is lined with shops that cater to all of these water activities. You'll find surf camps, eco-tour operators, sailing companies, diving schools, and jungle safaris, to name a few. The town give opportunities for visitors to just stroll, get a great tico meal or just enjoy the the beach.

The National Park Las Baulas, just to the north of Tamarindo Beach, is a great place to take a jungle boat tour and see the giant leatherback turtles lay her eggs in the sand during a nocturnal excursion.

For more adventurous types, take an ATV tour into the hills above Tamarindo, looking out for iguanas that might cross your path. Kayaking is a great way to see the estuary up close up and personal. Glide through the tree shaded slow moving waters as you take in the sights far from the bustle of Tamarindo Beach.

If you'd rather avoid all of these you can simply rent a car or a mountain bike and spend a couple days exploring the wonders of this area on your own. You will love the tranquil pace, amazing sunsets and the picturesque coasts of Tamarindo Beach, Costa Rica.
