The capital city of Costa Rica is San José, and there is a very good chance you will be passing through it at least once during your trip here. When you land in Juan Santamaria International Airport, you can stay at one of many great nearby hotels, and use it as your “base camp” for the rest of your travels throughout Costa Rica
Downtown Market

You can find accommodations on the outer parts of San José, that let you feel like you are not even in the city, or you can choose a hotel located right in the heart of downtown. There are dozens of rates to choose from in the different lodges, bed and breakfasts, and resorts, so anyone can find an option here to fit their style and budget. In the area you can enjoy activities from city tours, to white water rafting and canopy rides. San José is a truly versatile metropolis, and it can’t be missed if you want to get the full Costa Rican experience.
