This casual little place started out as a quaint little B & B offering just four simple budget rooms. The Costa Rica hotel has since grown considerably, and there are now a variety of rooms in a variety of price ranges.
Although the original rooms here are fairly small, they're decorated with style. They have cool tile floors, louvered French doors, and a good writing desk. Outside each room there's a small patio area with a few chairs. The newer suites are built on the highest spot on this property and have front and back balconies with views of both the ocean and the mountains, in addition to more space and natural light. All rooms are nonsmoking.
There's a two-tiered swimming pool with a swim-up bar, and the open-air restaurant Agave Grill, serves well-prepared Californian-fusion dishes. The new chef/owner Mike is fabulous. The Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola sauce, and the delicate Jumbo Curry Shrimp dish were excellent. So were the Ceviche & Shrimp Rolls.
La Colina hotel also rents out a fully equipped house and can accommodate longer-term stays. The hotel is on your right as you head out of Quepos toward Manuel Antonio, right at a sharp switchback on a steep hill (hence the name, which means "The Hill").
