Located a kilometer outside Quepos on the road to Manuel Antonio (across from Hotel Plinio), this long-standing budget Costa Rica hotel has received some well-deserved maintenance and upgrading.

The second-floor rooms are still the best, and even feature a glimpse of the water from the common veranda. One of them is huge, with a kitchen and a back wall made entirely of screen. From it, guests can look out over a lush stand of trees. During the high season (late Nov to late Apr), there's a breakfast buffet, which will run you about $5.
