Located right on Jaco beach, the building is done in colonial style, with arched porticos surrounding a courtyard that contains two medium-size pools, a few palapas for shade, and a thatch-roofed bar.

Each guest room is of good size, with a tile floor, a double and a single bed, a desk, and a porch or a balcony. The beachfront location here and the modest array of amenities are the hotel's greatest attributes. The Cocal is on one of the nameless streets leading down to the beach from the main road through Jacó; watch for its sign in the middle of town.
