Most of Jaco Beach's hotels and Costa Rica visitors huddle around the beach and bars, but Docelunas, "Twelve Moons", has a radically different holistic atmosphere across the highway. With a mountainous green backdrop, this choice Costa Rica hotel is situated away from the hustle and bustle, on the south end of Jaco Beach.

Docelunas Resort is nestled on five sprawling acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. An eco-friendly resort, the gardens are teeming with Costa Rica wildlife. Spot animals such as Coati mundies, sloths, and enjoy bird watching. The many fruit trees attract scarlet macaws, toucans and hummingbirds. Out of Costa Rica's 450 bird species, 150 have been spotted on the hotel grounds.

A lovely sun mosaic, decorates the large free form swimming pool with a waterfall flowing into it. The hotel has 20 spacious rooms including 8 deluxe suites. Decorated with teak furniture, each deluxe suite has a spacious bathroom with hot water shower, bathtub and double sinks. Each consists of 2 double beds, full size bathtub, minibar, 29 inch TV with cable, A/C and in-room safe. The 4 junior suites have king size beds, couches, large TV with cable, and an ipod friendly stereo system.

Original Costa Rican art decorate each room. All paintings are handcrafted by local Costa Rican Artists and are for sale. Docelunas Resort turns into an art gallery twice a month, when local artists present their latest creations.

The full-service Spa uses the hotel's own homemade beauty products. Yoga classes are given daily in a hilltop, hardwood-floor room with windows for walls. The Conference Center features various events, featuring contemporary celebrities such as Motorhead, Vanilla Ice, the Italls with Keirh Porter. Movie celebrities have been spotted frequenting these events. Concerts and stage productions, in conjunction with the Cultural Center of San Jose, are featured regularly.

On the premises is the Eclipse Restaurant. It offers some of the most exquisite cuisine in the Central Pacific area of Costa Rica. The Eclipse Restaurant has an spacious open air concept, surrounded by lush gardens. They serve up creative seafood, meat, vegetarian, and vegan dishes that change weekly.

Directions to Docelunas Resort: On coastal highway, coming from San Jose, pass the first entrances to Jaco Beach; take dirt road on left with signs for Docelunas to the end (if you reach the gas station on the right, next to the last entrance to Jaco Beach, you passed it).
