Hotels Monteverde National Park Costa Rica: El Bosque

Hidden down the hill behind El Bosque restaurant (on the main road to the reserve) is one of Monteverde's better values. Although the rooms are very basic, they're clean and fairly large and have high ceilings, picture windows, and double beds. The cement floors and simple furnishings help keep the rates down, while the varnished wood paneling gives the place a touch of style. The rooms are arranged in a semicircle around a minimally landscaped garden. The hotel's restaurant is some 90m (295 ft.) up a dirt road and down a path that crosses a junglelike ravine by footbridge, which turns going for breakfast into a morning bird-watching trip.
