Sport Fishing in Costa Rica

Costa Rica Travel, Sport Fishing
One of most popular tourist activities in Costa Rica is sport fishing. Costa Rica is one of the best places in the world for sport fishing and also deep sea fishing. Costa Rica holds over 79 world records when it comes to fishing. In Costa Rica, you will be able to catch fish such as Yellow Fin Tuna, Black Fin Tuna, Snook, Roosterfish, Snapper, Grouper, Dolphin, Sailfish, Black Marlin, and Blue Marlin.

There are beautiful areas to fish right off the coasts of Costa Rica. In the tropical waters of Flamingo, Tamarindo, Quepos (near Manuel Antonio National Park), Tambor and as well as the Gulfo Dulce and Osa Peninsula on the Pacific coast. On the Atlantic Ocean, Costa Rica's Caribbean coast, you will be able to fish for such fish as Tarpon and Snook, some of the best in the world. You will also be able to fish Barracuda, Spanish Mackerel, Jack, Kingfish, Grouper, Snapper, and many others. Because the canals and Rivers that lead into the Caribbean are lined with very lush areas of rain forest, the fishing is even better.

Don't worry about trying to take your fish home! Most of the sport fishing outfitters in Costa Rica rely on and believe in the catch and release program for Marlin and Snailfish. The bait is set upon the hook so the fish are caught in the front of the mouth, and are not injured. They can take the bait and hook out of the mouth and allow the fish to return to the wild. These programs are becoming more and more popular in Costa Rica. Many people enjoy the sport, but many of the fish are either endangered or becoming so. Because or the variety of fish available in Costa Rica, this programs is becoming very popular.

Costa Rica offers some of the best sport fishing in the world. If you want to take advantage of all that Costa Rica has to offer, take a day and enjoy a sport fishing adventure. You will be surprised how much fun you can have. Check Explore Costa Rica's Travel Center for outfitters troughout Costa Rica.
