Tamarindo Beach is surrounded by two protected green areas with an estuary on each end. There are also many Costa Rica National Parks close by including Palo Verde National Park, Santa Rosa, Rincon de la Vieja, Lake and Volcano Arenal, and the Rain Forest, Monteverde. For the adventurous, Nicaragua is just a 2 hour drive away.

Tamarindo is well worth a visit and you might want to become a local as part of a multicultural community.
