Costa Rica Airport Information

International flights arrive in Costa Rica at San Jose's Juan Santamaria international airport, nearby Alajuela in the Central Valley, and Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, 217km (135mi) northwest of San Jose, and near the beaches in Guanacaste, now operates as a international airport.

There are good connections to US, Canadian cities and several European and South American countries. There is a departure tax of around US$30 on international flights. 

Recently, Costa Rica's main airport in San Jose has been undergoing major remodeling and construction. While the much needed imporvements have made it easier to get in and out of the airport, travellers must still expect one hour delays leaving the airport.
